p.1 #1 · JB Flash: Epic FAIL

I saw this on someone's camera the other day and I managed to find out what it is. Here's how it looks:

http://jbflash.net/images/JBF-FRONT-iso_s.jpg

And here's the company that makes it: http://jbflash.net/

I'd love to know what was running through someone's head when that was designed. There are so many things wrong with it, I don't know where to start. It's like a cruel joke from a 60's photographer who loves the feel of a good 5lb flash bracket that can double as a sled in an emergency, but also wanted to keep his lens nice and toasty while making his camera appear to be smiling to scare off any bears or children. Maybe that's a standard kit in Alaska, IDK.

"To all Photographers - BTI Inc - Has a patent pending Flash Reflection System will revolutionize the industry."

That site is going to get SO MUCH traffic he should put up some google ads. Would probably make a killing!

Yup, in Balboa park, San Diego.

The address is in San Diego so I guess they're just selling them locally for now. The CNC shop that makes them (www.bti-tool.com) appears to be an otherwise-intelligent outfit. I bet it worked great in their CAD simulator.

I like the idea of how they used the flash bounce off the lens!

This is a legend.

So much for being a new 'venture' entrepreneur...I can tell he/she did invest the time and effort into the R&D, unfortunately it just seems that person isn't too much of a photographer nor marketing person. Look at the logo, template website (http://tinyurl.com/yf5n7lg, heck, at least he/she paid $197 for it), layout of product brochure, and seriously, the samples are...

We have had experts try to debunk this product without success. We had a local professional photography supplier take over 100 pictures with our product and they were amazed and dumfounded what it does. They took pictures of his hand and some products placed on top of a glass case store counter, and you guessed it, no shadows, reflections, and much more clearer without any effort.

Wow. What a round about way to get something ringflashy. I bet this was 'invented' before the Ray Flash and the Orbis came out.

Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it.

I've found hobos will leave you alone when you brandish it in a threatening manner.
