unique shooting of that old rock. I like the composition, but the contrast is weak;
brighter whites would really add drama to your image.

Niall,

This is a great shot and great composition. What did you use for B&W conversion ? you should try to make the clouds pop a little more... this is a great pic but I think it has even greater potential.

I use an action called B&WMF followed by detoning but I, too am not very pleased with it and will have another try.

OK, here's a simpler conversion with levels played with to boost the whites. Any better?

I like the tonal range in the last one the most, but the bigger size that you posted as the second picture would benefit the image.

I like the work on the last one a lot.

And I like the composition. It is a different take on half dome and it strongly divides the sediment side (right) vs. rocky crags (left). Note: I'm not a geologist

I think the image is strong enough with it's composition, but I wouldn't mind seeing a little more of the rock on the left. A panorama might have worked nicely.
