See independent discussion at http://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=517300

One thing I disagree with is the size. CC is way, way smaller than a PW or even most cell phones or a pack of cigarettes. 2" x 3" x 3/4" - 3.4 Ounces with batteries.

No, I do not mind. In fact I will upload some tonight. I must say that I cheated and knew how to semi-operate the unit before receiving it. I D/L the instructions on the day it was released.
Instructions were very thorough and have a easy to follow user interface.

I am just puzzled on one issue in which I will test out tonight..

Dear Friends

Mine is supposed to have shipped this week, though I haven't seen a shipping notice in email yet. I spoke with a bee on Monday and she said all pre-orders should ship this week.

I'm two UPS Ground shipping days away from the hive, so I'll probably receive mine early next week. I suppose I could even receive it today if standard shipping notices aren't being emailed.

Sheri, if you want to come over and check out Paul's 86" and 64" white parabolics and a bunch of his other stuff, let me know. I'll be around all weekend and am located approximately ten to fifteen miles from you.

Rob, I know what you mean about real size and pictures. I was surprised when I saw Paul's CyberSync transmitter in person. It's so tiny, especially compared to a PocketWizard Plus.

here are a few photos:
Light source is PLM 64" silver w/ diffuser and one AB800.

Metered with CC and fired with CC on D700. All other photos were metered with Cyber Commander and triggered with the cyber synch transmitter:

Great shots - especially the CC in hand shot - thank you for posting them. To anticipate the quesstions , , , the flashmeter dome is on the back top. Glad you figured out how to do the setup routine. Any problems?

The only problem that I had (which really is not a problem) but saving the AB1600 and AB800 on SD3. I was trying to save both together on SD3 but I gave up when I tried to equalize the modeling light on the AB800.
I did the multiplication but kept getting numbers that were not in the CC database.

My last volume of Hooked on Phonics never arrived, so I am officially a big dummy......

Other that no problems.....

I was able to save Sd1 with the AB1600 and Sd2 with the AB800 which is what I wanted.

Assuming both lights have 150W modeling lamps, what you have to do in this case is, with both lights in Model = Track Flash mode, go to the B800 channel and select the Modeling Menu. Then click the modeling lamp down one f stop.

Now when you go back to the primary Flash Menu you will see the B800 modeling lamp will always be one f stop below the flash power. So if you adjust both lights to their maximum power, the B1600 modeling lamp will be 150W and -0f and the B800 modeling lamp will be 75W and -1f.

Since the B1600 is putting out twice the light as the B800, so will be the B1600 modeling lamp putting out twice as much light as the B800 modeling lamp, so what you see is what you get.

Then save this setup to SB3.

I am sure I might find the answer if I did some reading, but dose anyone know if I can use CSRB's with the Cyber Commander and still select different flashes at a time (by setting them to alternate channels) or do I need the CSRB+ units in order to do this. When I ordered my CSRB's the PLUS model was not shipping and I currently have a CST and four CSRB receivers in my kit.

I just hosted a multi photographer Strobist meet-up today and I let several people use my Cybersyncs. There were a few people that loved them enough that I might be able to sell them pretty easily if I need to upgrade receivers.

David, the CSRBs only have channels, not groups. To trigger them via the CC, they'll all have to be set on the same channel, but then to the CC they'll all be on the same group (since you can't change it), so all your CSRBs will be triggered simultaneously, together. That's why they recommend having only CSRB+'s.

Correct. We will still keep our promise to avoid customer goofs while evolving this whole system. So You can trade up your CSRBs for CSRB+ for the cost difference if you like.

Slight correction to bacllonur - CRSBs only have frequencies and fire on all channels at once. The result is the same - Cyber Commander selectively fires Channels, and only + models can receive channel info. Everything in a system is normally set to a single frequency.

Right, I was thinking in PW Multimax/Skyport terms of channels and groups versus your frequencies and channels. That's good to know about trading up to CSRB+'s.
