I don't care if the next 1Dxx is not released this month, or next month, or next year, so long as Canon's next release of the 1-Series has no absurd and inconsistent fault like the AF problem. And then the even more customer-losing 'stonewalling' of faithful users for almost a year on the issue!

That said, I'm still a Canon shooter for about 55 years now. Still have a 1D3. But this drove me into serious Nikon stuff as an alternate, ongoing system.

I stopped to visit a local art/print shop near Canon HQ on Long Island while the owner and a member of the Canon staff were going over some overflow print work Canon needed for the upcomimg NY show and I asked if I should shoot the 1D-IV with the 1DIII or the 1DsIII while at the show.

"SHOOT IT WITH THE 1DsIII" was the response.

$4,000 is pretty wishful thinking, my estimate is more like $5,000 plus. I'd be happy if it was 4K though.

I'm expecting to see the 1D4 have in the 16-18 neighborhood, and the 1Ds4 to have upwards of 30. Oh boy! Oh boy! Can't wait to see what they'll actually be! Yeah, but I've been testing a preproduction unit for the auto-comp function. That's what those two buttons are, not direct print but V and H auto-comp. You can hit both if you want an artsy tilt.
I was promised right of first BIF publication (that's bee in flight), but I couldn't get this one to fly, so I'm allowed to show it noshing.

You can set the Mk IV to display sensitivity in the old DIN (log) system, because ISO numbers are getting out of hand.

Wonder if they pop a 1DsIV out of the oven?? I got my mind set on a 1DsIII mid next year,thats plenty of camera 21MP FF highish frame rate thats about all I'll ever need, actually probably more than I'll ever need. If a 1DsIV arrives DsIII should drop tp $2900-$3400USD range.

I'm still using AND LOVING the 1DMKII (I skipped the -N and III).

However Hardware has so much improved that a IV might be just a great early XMAS present to myself.

But why on Earth would they announce this in SPAIN first -- it's hardly their largest market.

Still a 1D MK IV needs to appear soon IMO - especially as for some the 1D III is a bit of a dog. Can't verify that myself as I don't have one.

Australia has also got news of an event on the 20th.

I've seen a few people on several forums from the bigger wealthier nations wondering why Canon would announce something from the smaller markets... comes across as a bit arrogant to be honest.
In any case, I also seem to recall Canon announcing the 5D II and the 50D first from the Netherlands? Not exactly the biggest market either.
