I have been a long time lover of the 10-22, on my 20D, 40D, and IR rebel.
Its GREAT, super wide, sharp, USM...
This Xmas I got a 10-17 Tokina Fisheye. Its nice, really fun at weddings and such, but its not an every day lens. I bought this one because i could use it on a FF if I ever went there...
Well, I bought a 1Ds II and now I need a wide for that. The fisheye is Fantastic on it, and I think even has more distortion on the FF @ 17, than the crop @ 10. But its not a lens I can use everyday, again..
so I was considering selling the 10-22, and getting a 16-35 MI, as they can be had for about 900, and with the 10-22 going for around 600, I would be able to get a FF, 2.8, weather sealed for about 300. But i loose the UWA on the crop. Not a Big deal, but, as the 40D is my second camera, my "sports" camera, and the rebel, I would like to have a UWA for those. The question is, how well does the fish-eye UN-fish in PP.
So, is it worth it to keep the 10-22 for the 2nd body and IR camera? Or would the 16-35 suffice for most of it, unless i need to go really wide, at which point I could use the fisheye, or the 16 on the 1ds...
Kinda sounds like i answered my own question there dont it? lol
well from your discription of your wants it would look like you only have to decide if you need the UWA for the IR cam.
I thought I read somewhere that the 10-22 was not great for IR (I think Focus and/or hotspots) but then if you have used it you will know better.
