p.2 #1 · Tiny ballhead?

Stephan needs to be very clear about his relationship with Sunway, although it seems he is far from the only "spammer" / "leaner" in the works.

the question at hand is simple: are you employed by or in anyway financially involved with sunway?

if so and you are pushing it on this site you are in violation of the rules set forth. if you wish to discuss any other gear feel free and you are welcome.

Incidentally, do that on ANY forum, regardless of the rules, and you basically trash your reputation and company.

Have you considered the Kirk BH-3? It is in the same size category as teh BH-40 from RRS, but cost is closer to that of the BH-25. I have had mine for going on 6 years now (got it at launch), and still love it.

My favorite small but full featured ballhead is the Markings Q3T. However, the PhotoClams have popped up on my radar screen for small ballheads.

Do you know anyone that has actually used one and is there a comparison to Markins? I'm invested in Markins with several heads

No, but they have just been popping up lately in the last several months. What is interesting is that they seem to go smaller in size. There have been some preliminary reports that they are ok but it's sketchy data.

if you actually read this thread, you'd have found my review which is far from sketchy.
Right now I own PC-33NS and PC-36NS and they are great, sold both of my Markins - Q3 and Q3T
last week. Believe me - there is nothing sketchy about Photo Clam ballheads.

Snowboarder... JohnJ80 is skeptical of any first-person reviews that lack methodically tested data... don't feel bad. He responded to my tripod review the same way... long discussion ensued.

In any case, while I disagree with what I consider his dogmatic approach to invalidating most anecdotal reports (and I have a degree + in physics, so I'm all about a desire for real data)... his point is well taken: the photo world is really lacking in objective data on how well various tripods and heads mitigate various types of vibration. We'd all be better off with that kind of info at our finger tips (kinda like MTF charts... except way more valuable). That said, I think each and every anecdotal report builds towards something useful-- realizing that even products that started with bad or good reputations can change over time.

I did read your review, and it's no knock on that. That's pretty much the only one I've seen of any detail. That's what I meant by sketchy. I can go and get any number of reviews on other Markins, RRS or Kirk either here or elsewhere. It's just because Photoclam is a new company (or new at this) there is "sketchy" information out there. They are on my radar screen. For me, personally, I'd like to see a little more track record before I'd buy.

Just saw the Arca-Swiss PO (zero) head at the PhotoPlus Expo on Thursday; very small, very very strong, very impressive. And not a bad price.

Real standardized, repeatable data would be nice, though it's tough and there are many variables. Some of what passes as "reviews" here, though, are really just a bunch of pictures and someone saying how good it looks. At minimum, it would be nice to have some reports of how the equipment actually performs, including focal lengths and shutter speeds.

Huh, that is interesting indeed. If anyone picks one of these up, I'd love to hear how it performs.
