Great shots. What turn were you sitting at and which lens were you using?

Thanks Ron,

Actually I was in the Fosters Cicane Sky box for the whole 3 days. I had a great time. Unfortunately I am alergic to alcohol

Most impressive shots! Did you crop these or is this the full 400mm (@ 640mm ) shot? Just curious. They look fantastic and you wouldn't tell that you had to shoot through the fence.

I read somewhere else that people with "pro-looking camera gear" weren't allowed in. Did you have a special pass or did you experience any such problems? I was just wondering about that. I'm planning to visit the Hungarian GP if I can get some time off from work and wouldn't want to run into all kinds of problems.

Thanks for posting and feel free to share more shots if you like! (Also loved your wild life shots btw!)

Thanks Erik for you compliment,

No 3 thats was front on, I had to crop about 50% but the cars with side view the pictures were almost full frame.

Yes I did have difficulty bringing my 400mm lens as they do not allow lens over 200mm. Well as you said I just made sure I did not look professional

Perry

Because the picture was front on

Are they actually checking focal length on your lenses? Can they tell a 200mm f/2.8 from a 400mm f/5.6?

Does anyone know if these rules are different per each GP or is this a general FIA/Ecklestone-rule? To keep pro-looking equipment away?

Yes they do, I just had my 70-200 attached to camera and it was busy so they just ask what lens it is and say 200 and they will let you go. They did stop me on 2nd day and I was not allowed to go in. So it is pot luck who you get at gate.

I personally think it stinks, my 3 tickets cost over Aus$1700 each and I am not entitled to bring my 400mm lens . Afterall the fence is in the way, why are they afraid of some amatuer like myself. I am paying fotr the entertainment both directly and indirectly via using sponsors product like drinking Fosters beer etc.

Are those rules printed on the tickets anywhere? Can they actually prevent you from bringing certain lenses and where is the limit?

Can I bring my 70-200mm eventhough I'll have a 1.4x TC attached to it? Is this also normal with other motor/auto-sports?

My girlfriend works for Opel and I can get DTM tickets with various degrees of access - but will I face the same restrictions on my photo gear? I'd certainly hope not! Like you say - I would never consider myself a threat to the established press photographers!

No it is not on tickets. Once you are in, you are in. just put 1.4x in your pocket
