Just saw the following on Canonrumors.com listed as a CR2 rumor the following is quoted from Canonrumors.com
"September Announcement
A solid source has confirmed the launch of a new 1D camera in September.
The camera will be available for purchase in October in a limited number. Stock should be in full swing by the time Vancouver 2010 rolls around.
The camera will remain APS-H. The source added “photojournalists and sports photographers alike have overwhelmingly thrown their support behind the APS-H sensor. If you want full frame for your landscape and portrait work, Canon provides a superb 5D Mark II and 1Ds Mark III”.

having just spent a week on the west coast (of Ireland) using a 1dsMKii and an EOS3 I can't help wondering why canon haven't managed to make a DSLR with a viewfinder as bright as the EOS 3.
It kills me when I take the D450/Rebel XSi out for the day as I can barely see through the VF on it

I'll take a Mark IV with 12.1 MP, APS-H, and the new gapless sensor technology.
BTW: My Mark III AF seems to work close to perfect after the last run to Canon.

What a joke,a camera that can't focus anything that moves(even very slowly)
Just wanted to say that I have had pretty good luck with my 5D2 for in flight shots, I would say it's not the same as my 1Dmark3 but I would not make the comment you have made.
Doubt that he has ever used one. It focuses very well on flying waterfowl which is a very difficult target. One of the most accurate focusing cameras I've used albeit not the fastest...
To get back to the topic, I have problems accessing canonrumors anymore... it looke like the recent posts are unavailables, including the 1DmkIV recent rumor... may it be true after all?
I've had trouble getting on their site since last Friday. He is in the process of switching over to dedicated hosting, so I'd bet that is the reason for all the down-time. Imagine the horror when I get a twitter message saying there is a new blog post about the 1D Mark IV and I can't read it!

And what about sensor size?
If it's FF, then it's fine.
If it's APS-H, then it's bad news, at least in my humble opinion.
Very disapointed with my 50d IQ performance in bad light/indoors...
My former 1DMIII was a dream in this regard.
Yeah, but you are way wrong on this. You are talking, first, about an APS-C sized sensor, a lot (relatively) smaller than the APS-H sensor of the 1D series. Coupled with the gap-less sensor lens technologies (which the Mark III doesn't use) 16MP is not that far fetched, though I would imagine it being a little closer to 14-15 to be right there with the D3 and still maximize the size of the photosites.
Second, you are comparing the sensor of an xxD camera to one going into a 1D series. Canon knows how to differentiate the quality of those sensors. Noise will likely be right on target, if not better, than that of the 5D Mark II my guess. The xxD line of cameras has pretty much always been pretty dicey (though more usable with each generation, surely) at the over-1600 ISO range.
On the topic of using FF over APS-H... I am pretty mixed. I like having that tiny bit of extra reach with the long glass, but it kills the wide-angles, something every PJ uses a lot. Losing that .3x can sometime mean someone is loosing a foot, at least with my meager 24-105L. I suppose if its APS-H, then I have to get me a 16-35L, which is next anyway .
There was also a lot of rumors about lenses, one was a 24-105mm f2.8L IS. Dang that would be HEAVY and amazing. Put one of those in a kit with the Mark IV, we got ourselves a stew going! (Arrested Development anyone?!)

Not to get off topic....but wow!
Yeah... you don't need to quote the pictures again. Sorry, people do that all the time and its frustrating... especially on a long set of images like that... Of course, the images are quite good!
