p.1 #1 · PocketWizard Plus II vs. CyberSyncs

This is my 2nd Summer of doing wedding photography part-time, and I wanted to dabble with wireless triggers so I can use off camera fill flash outdoors for engagement/wedding pictures.

Whats the consensus on the PocketWizard Plus II versus the CyberSyncs from Paul Buff? I don't use ETTL much, which is why the PocketWizard didn't tickle my fancy all that much. Two PocketWizard Plus II's will run me $340 versus $130 for two similar CyberSyncs. Is the extra $210 justifiable?

I am staying away from the new PocketWizard Flex due to all the issues I hear, and the fact they are priced quite high and I'm not sure how much I'm going to need these anyways, since I didn't use them before.

If you are a wedding/portrait photographer and you have the CyberSyncs and can recommend them over the older PocketWizard Plus II's, please chime in. Thank you and have a great day.

Get PWs if you'll ever need to rent more on location or if you have a PW module in your meter or lights. Get Cybersyncs if you just want standard, reliable, inexpensive triggers.

I bought cybersyncs as backups to my pocketwizards but seem to grab the cybersyncs more offer them the pocketwizards. I have found no differences in reliability but enjoy the smaller size.

The 1/8" jack on many of our cybersyncs wore out after a season of use. The PWs have not after several seasons.

I owned the Cybersyncs and found them to be a bit cumbersome in comparison to the PW's. What I like most about the PW's is the ability to fire them with the Sekonic L-358. That's the deal breaker for me, since I can light extremely fast this way.

Hope this helps!

Can anybody answer me the following question:

Does the Pocketwizard PLUS IIs allow me to use flash exposure compensation? Or do I have to walk to the flash and change my settings? Is there anyway to change the flash output from the camera?

If not, I take it the Flex TT5 and Mini TT1 address this issue?
