p.1 #1 · Matching original 5D with 5D Mark II

What are you doing to match your original 5D with the 5D Mark II in Lightroom? I'm working with the RAW files from both cameras in Lightroom and I'm noticing the Mark II is substantially more saturated.

You can try setting in camera profiles to match each other.

It's a bit of expense, but I'd recommend buying a GretagMacbeth ColorChecker and creating custom camera profiles.

It should give you more accurate colour from both cameras (more pleasing as well in my opinion) and also help them be a better match. That said, if you're completely happy with the 5D's colour and want the 5D II to match that, I'm not sure how you would accomplish it.

Here's an image I shot that shows how much of an improvement to colour a custom profile makes. First is the Adobe Standard profile, then the Camera Standard profile, and finally the custom one. (which matches what I saw with my eyes)

that last moth pic does look by far the best!
(i wonder what faithful and neutral with a bit of slider work look like though since they are often better than adobe or camera standard)

anyway i can't believe i haven't gotten around to doing the colorchecker thing yet, i better go do it right now, i have the charts already taken (thankfuly even for my old cams which i sold off since i still have quite a few raw pics to develop from them)

Here are what faithful and neutral looked like, with the custom profile third again for comparison:

Just a quick snapshot I took the other week (first tomatoes off our plants this year) but again, the custom profile has much more accurate and pleasing colour. No matter which of the included presets I chose, I would have had to start using the HSL controls to get good looking colour, and yet with the custom profile, I didn't have to change a thing.
