p.1 #1 · Tew's Falls at Dawn - Finally!! | |
I've been planning this excursion for a while now and finally work and weather co-operated. Tew's Fall's - part of the Niagara escarpment just north of Hamilton, Ontario. 41 meters tall and about 4-5 meters across at the crest. You have to be there early in the morning to get full light on the falls and any other time I was there the falls were in shade. So, it was up at 4:50 am and a 30 minute drive to get to the lookout.
1st shot is the standard view that everyone gets from a lookout and although the sun had made it above the horizon it would be another hour yet before it started to hit the top of the falls. Now to get down to the base of the falls it's a bit of a hike - down from Webster's Falls and you have to walk across a bit of a stream and then along another until you get to the base. These are fairly quick edits - they looked OK on my main system - not so hot now that I'm uploading from my laptop.
In #2 and #3 you can see how the sun moves down the canyon wall.
Let me know what you think. I've posted here a few times before - same location but a winter shot. I hope to go back in the autumn when the leaves on top turn red.
