p.1 #1 · Suggestions & Options for Creating an Online Portfolio

I've been using Smugmug for a few years now to "show off" my work but have been pondering creating an online site. An online portfolio that I can add my bio and contact info is what I'm looking for. Through various outlets I've been investigating the options. Appealing of course is a Flash based site or the like. I am not a programmer and don't write code but I'm pretty good with computers and can build a regular website using FrontPage or a similar program.

What I would ultimately like is something professional looking that I not only have as a web site but also be able to put a mobile version on a DVD to give to clients. Aside from the cost of hiring a programmer to create and continually update, what suggestions do you have? I've looked at the millions of Flash templates on the internet but again you have to have Flash and know how to manipulate the template.

Any thoughts would help. Thanks.

Not sure if this is along the lines of what you're looking for, but livebooks.com has much to offer if it fits your bill.

I like that thank you.

Also looking for a little more do-it-yourself approach. Something I can update and upload if someone designs it.

You could use www.squarespace.com to make the main website, and Photocart, www.picturespro.com for selling images. Both are quite customizable, but don't require knowledge of coding. I think Photocart offers a Flash version.

I'm on a Mac system, so I use iWeb for my main site, but I have found Photocart is a good, secure system with lots of support. You buy the software and receive payments via PayPal (or other comparable sites), so there is no commission taken from your sales. It installs on whatever web site host you use.

You can print your orders yourself, or use a service of your choice.

I use JAlbum to create galleries but they seem to be capable of much more. Currently, I have a feed on my blog highlighting my recent JAlbum galleries.
