Sup y'all?

2nd shoot for a good friend of mine last night. 3 ceremonies: Persian (Groom is Persian), Western and Chinese Tea (bride is half white, half asian). 2 locations, both wineries. The Persian and Chinese tea ceremony were in a winery cave. lighting was horrendous. I had to shoot f/1.4 and iso3200 - 6400 for most of the night. D700 rocked it though.

These two really really showed lots of respect and honor for their parents, something really important in Asian cultures. During the tea ceremony I have to admit, I did shed a tear.

a little write up on filial piety attached w/ their photos on the blog
holla! c&c appreciated.

nice atmosphere to these, honestly I would have popped some light into the curved ceiling for fill of some description.
I try and stay around 4000 and lower, its looks dark so easy to say, can't measure light with a keyboard

Jofoto,

I have lots of stuff w/ flash popped, both on and off camera, but just wanted to show the ISO awesomeness of the D700. also like the mood it creates using just ambient. during the ceremonies though I tried to go all no flash as to preserve the sacreness of the moment. same w/ father daughter dance. after the first few shots w/ the flash to make sure I get something the clients would like at iso400 w/ flash, i bump it to 3200/6400 and shoot @ 1.4 so as to not ruin the moments w/ too much flash going off, especially in a dark cave where the flash is REALLY noticeable.

Misen, i'm an emotion junkee when it comes to shooting weddings. i pride myself on capturing those moments and it's a huge selling point for my clients.

Some really touching pictures in this set. They are all the more impressive given the difficult lighting situation. Job well done!

Thanks Smart.

Ereza, it was @ two different wineries. Meritage and Sebastiani. Western ceremony @ Sebastiani, everything else at Meritage.

that's clicks. D700 rocks

Awesome - I love the grain. How's the D700 for focusing in the dark? Man, the canon 5D cannot find a focus in the dark. It drives me nutz. Seriously considering getting at least one nikon camera and lens so I can shoot in these conditions. high quality shots at high ISOs are nice - but it's imperative that the shots are actually in focus...

Dimi, for #4 i used the 17-35 f/2.8.

thanks JQT.

DB, no noiseware = some grain, but i like it too. d700 + IQ of the new Nikon 50mm 1.4 = money in the dark. the 85 1.4 is older but still very good IQ, not killer IQ like the new 50 though.

+20 on the d700 on low light..i didn't want to sell it and just make the switch to nikon, but it would have cost at least an arm and a two big toes to do it..

but great shots ROb, solid second in this session

i love the grain on these pictures. looks like a film camera which gives it a very vintage look.
