From the trip two years ago, here are a few I hadn't posted from the Palouse, Labor Day weekend, 2007 (!).
Was on the way to Spokane to see my daughter for dinner, so couldn't linger for nicer sunset light. Oh well.
1) & 2) Just a barn color and conversion.

Hope you can enjoy. C&C please.

Thanks for looking,

Barry

Nice visual tour Barry - I like the first and fourth shots here the most. There is something compelling about the almost washed out colors of the first shot that appeals to me more than the nice BW conversion of the same shot. The comp works nicely in that shot for both versions.

The combination of the patterned ground and the nice cloud display in the fourth shot make this a nice view of the lumpy landscape of the Palouse.

Thanks for the tour of the scenery.

Alan

Barry

Very nice series great comps and patterns. Is #1 off Hwy 23 looks like a barn I saw yesterday as I just returned from Spokane and meet up with Tim Oneill and Don Hall for a little shooting time. Really like the golden colors you captured up on Steptoe, right now it is still as green as can be.

Excellent set and the light works surprisingly. 3 is the stand-out for me. Wonderful day, full of summer feeling!

Damn! Now I have to go back again. Just got back last night with mixed results, but punctuated by no atmospherics at all. Lovely selection of golds here Barry. Ordinarily I'd go for the monochrome, but the soft gold shot takes it. Went up Steptoe, and never got out the camera. See you soon.

Bingo!! Good eye, Ray! If memory serves, about half-way from I-90 to Steptoe?

Thanks!!

Nice series Barry, love the conversion on the barn. I don't have a favorite but I'm definitely drawn to the last one. No particular reason it just appeals to me.

The gold tones on the Steptoe Butte images really make the set for me. Very nice.

Thanks, Alan. I appreciate your kind comments. Lumpy is a great descriptive for the Palouse!!

Many thanks, Ute. Really glad you enjoyed these. I only wish I'd had time to spend and wait for nicer light in the evening. Maybe someday

I like them all, but I'm partial to the two from step toe. Looks like you had decent weather while you were there.

Thanks, Tim! I've only been able to visit the Palouse once, and it was obviously after the harvest. I'd love to see it all greened up

Hi, Barry. Very nice set. I really like the soft colors and comp in the first shot, but like the b/w conversion even more.

Cheers,
Ed

that warm, dapled light on all the bumps in number 4 make that one my pick. Nifty shots. I guess the Palouse is on my list now.

Great series Barry. I love them all, but #4 (and 5) get the honors in my book.

Looks like you had a great trip, with great company.

Hi Jim. Thanks. The weather was nice indeed for late summer. At least I had some cloud action to go along with the hazy skies

Hey Bart! Thanks pal. The area was amazing to see, and it was a treat to get to see my daughter for the first time in a couple years!!

#1 is the clear winner for me. I might just crop off the top just till the top of the frame barely touches the 2 puffy cloud at the top left. That way, it just puts the barn a little higher in the frame and the horizon is not as close to 50/50 as it is now. Not only the golden grass, but the windmill and the cattle gate elements really are what make this shot. Those elements were nicely placed in your composition.

On the overlook shots, I think the shadows from all those clouds really make the shot too busy.
