p.1 #1 · Camera on a Wimberley

My wife doesn't like using a ballhead and want's to use her 50D and shorter lenses on her Wimberley II. It's no problem with a lens that has a tripod collar but we were trying to figure out how to use the 50D and a 17-40 on the Wimberley. Does anyone make a plate/adapter etc. that does what she wants to do?

I think if you go to RRS and go thru the different pieces they sell, you should be able to get something that will work. I think the MPR-1 with the MPR-dvtl will get you 90 degrees off the bracket on the Wimberley.

Wimberley offers a plate (m8?) that allows you to attach your camera body to the gimbal for the purposes you want. Check their site for a description.

Hi Rod-

Yes- The Wimberley M8 + a camera plate are what you need. 95% of the time, the Wimberley head is all I use now.

Here is a link to the M8 on the Wimberley site, http://tripodhead.com/products/p5-m8.cfm. If you have an L bracket, you should be able to change from landscape to portrait framing easily.
