p.1 #1 · 3-way tripod head

We were out shooting some flowers today. My wife was using her 50D and 100-400 with a Markins Q3 Ball Head. She doesn't like the ball head and would rather have something like a 3 way head but with with a quick release clamp for the Arca Swiss lens and camera plates.
Who might make one like this? Thanks

choose your 3 way head and slap on a AS type clamp on it. i have yet to see a dedicated AS clamp for a 3 way as it was originally designed for a Ballhead. there is of course the last option.....The Arca Swiss Cube.

it unfortunately has a very unpalatable price tag of $1900.00+

I use a Manfrotto 410 geared head with integral RC4 QR system for specialized applications like high magnification macro with a big and awkward bellows system, and often for studio work. I sometimes use a RRS B2-Pro Dual Mount QR base on it as well (you just screw it onto a RC4 QR plate), and it's very secure. The 410 geared head is very smooth and precise, but at 1.5kg in weight and 130mm in height (before adding the RRS), it's a monster compared to most ball heads.
