p.1 #1 · Southeast Dirt Track Racing

Youth sports in our area pretty much fizzle out at the end of the school year so we are lucky to have dirt track racing to fill the void and keep a little revenue coming in over the summer.

I like #2 also. No use shooting flash when it gets that dusty.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure how #2 would go over. It's a little different than what I usually shoot but I kinda like it.

Thanks again!

I really like # 2. Its great IMO as its not your standard shot. D700 or D3?

I wish we still had more dirt track racing in AZ. We have lost 2 tracks the past year or so. Manzanita was sold and we also lost a great track in Casa Grande called Central Arizona Raceway. Right now all the drivers are split between 2 tracks about 170 miles apart. 1 is IMCA and the other is UMP. Sucks for us dirt track racing fans...

Thanks ultragraffics,

These were shot with a D-700.

I know what you mean about tracks closing down. Some of our tracks are running limited schedules where they only open for the big touring series.

One track that I cover has had three promoters in the last three years and appears to be hanging by a thread again this season.

Hopefully some of the tracks in your area will reopen soon. If so send us some race photos

What lens combo are you using to get the "close encounters" with

Is this a part of cropping?? or just how close are you?

Hey onesickpuppy

These were shot with a 28-70 for the most part with some minor cropping. If you look closely at photo # 1 you can see a short concrete wall with a wire fence on top of it. The shots came from inside that wall. I found a gap between the concrete and the wire for this shot

and used an elevated platform for most of the others. So I can get literally within a foot or so of the cars........Yeah sometimes I flinch

Thanks
