I really didn't like the black edge on the top left of the last post so I had to change it out one last time. I've used this tree before and I've been wanting to do some re-take anyway.
Thanks Yakim and yes it does scream posed The natural light under the limbs of the tree cannot be controlled, but I do love the subtle colors in the bark and light. After this WA I know I'm bound to try it again.
Hi Don! I love this 're-shoot.' Since I have a print of an early image I can compare the two, and I think this one is extra nice! Great contrast, and color. Excellent image, my friend!

Beautiful shot, Don! The varied colors and textures of the bark are quite amazing! Addressing the problem of it looking to contrived or "placed" I think a different cropping that brought the head of the Lily more into some aspect of the Rule of Thirds (maybe a landscape orientation cropping) might have helped mitigate that. Having said that, though, I don't mind this "placed" look all that much. It remains a fine shot.
Thanks everyone and I bet all of you know the feeling of having an image in your head you just can't seem to capture. This might be an opportunity for an HDR image.
Philly where the heck have you been? I missed seeing you and Vipermike posting out here.
