p.1 #1 · FS: Sold: CANON 500mm f/4 IS

Well life is full of surprises in family and nature. Nothing is forever and sacrifices make us stronger. Regretfully I am selling my recently acquired Canon 500mm F/4 IS flawless lens with date code UU. It was bought here on the forum just a few months ago, not a single mark on it anywhere and it is still in that condition. I added a lens coat camo to it, custom made by my wife who is a seamstress. The hard case with keys is included too.

Is it sharp, you bet and it performs at all f/stops and with a 1.4xTC on it like it wasn't there. I have had a 300 f/4 L, 400 5.6L, and this 500, nothing is sharper and more colorful than this 500.

SOLD pending funding on Tuesday Funds Good item SOLD

To Purchase: $4950 net to me. Shipping will be UPS insured and signature with my company discount @ actual cost. CONT US sale only, money order, personal check, bank check are all fine with proper clearing of funds before shipment. Paypal will be considered with arrangements of final pricing and local pick-up is encouraged, I am in Ohio between Sandusky and Cleveland close to Lake Erie.

Images from it are scattered along the Nature and Wildlife forum from me, I expect to post actual lens pics later tonight though there won't be any suprises of condition.

If you have ever thought about owning this lens, just do it and you will see that it has no limitations other than the shooters techiniques PM's are fine and will do my best to respond quickly, thanks for your interest!

Best Regards
Karl

Ok People! Here is a Fm'er who is the proverbial gentleman's gentleman! His lens is better than he describes. Just look at his N&W posts.
The price is "right-on" for this lens so if you are thinking about buying a 500mm beter think FAST!!
Good luck Karl! Hope to see you and Robert in October.

Geez, Karl, you should have sold that fine lens to someone who was real needy, not to Superblue who has probably accumulated at least half a dozen of the 500's by now

Obviously, as long as there is health, a few toys more or less means relatively little. Most people eventually get tired of hauling the 500 f/4 around anyway. If you take a critical look at people's images, there is no real difference in quality between 500 and 400 f/5.6 (100-400) images. And if there is, it is probably attributable to the photographer's skill or luck of being in a productive place at the right time.

You take care now.

You are indeed, Martin! Many transactions extend beyond "the sale or purchase". This is a case in point.
A person such as Karl, generous,helpful,...never a question left unanswered by Karl.
You will love this lens "superblue"!!!! It was "babied" by one of the best here on FM.

Peter- Thanks for your encouragement and concerns. I do agree that the 3's, 4's and 1-4's produce some excellent images though my 5 required much less sharpening than my other two L lenses. For some reason the 5 seems to have a magical reach and adaption to the 1.4TC. However for the additional cost one certainly expects that too The toys have often come and gone in my life, thankfully the health has always been good Thanks my friend for your thoughts and comments.

Dan- Easy now, I'm blushing buddy Thanks for the support my friend!

Khan- And I fully expected you to be the first one to contact me Thanks for very kind words, I do appreciate that my friend
