Hey guys.

I know this isn't so much wedding related. But really it is.. These are for my next wedding in 10 days.

I also asked this on the lighting forum and another forum today with no replies.

I am buying 2 Alien Bee 800's and need to know about their trigger system.

I can buy the wired controller (LGX4) or the CST controller and 1 CSRB+ light trigger. My budget won't allow me to buy 2 triggers.

Can I link the 2 strobes together with the sync cable and use the 1 trigger to fire them both?
Or would the built in flash slave trigger be enough in the second light not to worry about anything connected to it?

Thoughts.. Ideas..

the second strobe should fire without needing a trigger..although, be aware that if that's how you set it up, uncle Bob and his pop up flash will be setting off that strobe when he takes his pics too.

Thanks for that.. I am aware of uncle Bob. But I have 2 wedding in the next 2 weeks and both brides have asked for the formals to be done with little to no family and friends hanging around. They want them to head to the reception area and leave us alone..
So the single strobe at the reception hall that has the trigger should be exclusive to me.. Plus we are heading to a local park that is very nice between the ceremony and reception. 1 light should do the trick there too.

The Cyber Sync set is great. You can use a cheap headphone splitter and headphone extension wire from Radioshack to connect strobes to one receiver. The optical slave built in will work fairly well indoors, but not outdoors. Do you have a Vagabond or LOTS of extension cords in order to use them in the park?

Ebay 16-channel triggers are as reliable as PW's. Use them for 2 years now. 1 Xmit + 2 Rec'v set for ~$35 USD shipped. Usually you can add additional bits (hotshoe adapters, additional recievers, cord adapters etc.) and save on shipping. Just search on "16 channel flash trigger" although I use the RD616 kind. The others just look... cheap.

The default kit includes the right adapters to plug in and fire AB800s, so no additional pieces are needed. A hotshoe adapter is needed to trigger any sort of hotshoe flash (580EX etc., although this opens up options on cheapies like Nikon SB-24's and Vivitar 283's)

Hey dude, this works great for me, but be carefull no one trips over the wires.

I already have 1 of those splitters and never even thought of using it. I did however think maybe to use a phone cable splitter and go that route.

Brett.. No vagabond yet.. Going to test my inverter with extension cord. Its high on the list but not there yet. I do also have a generator I can use but the noise may be too much.. Although I did spot a couple of outlets at the park. I need to go and test them first.. I may just use the triggers and shoot my 580 off camera in the park. I have a week to see what I can come up with.

Squid.. Hook a brother up with those PW's.. Or em I mean let a bro borrow them for a few days..
