I've a tuxedo cat and I know dark fur is difficult. You've done a good job with Inky's eyes. Inky's fur is pretty good, but it might benefit from some PS smart sharpen (gaussian blur of 2 - 5 pixels, perhaps).
I actually happen to like the DOF on this image. Its one of the things that attracts
me to close ups, differing choices on focus within the same image.
You know I am challenged with blue-ish, green-ish casts Your re-work is dead-on the original.
Scott, AuntiPode,
The image was a spur-of-the-moment thing, HH, he was sitting in the doorway. The original is a bit soft so I went with that - I'll see what I can do on the sharpening-blurring scale. My intent was to get his eyes and let the rest fall where it may.
As an observation, I noticed, for me at least, the image looks much better when viewed from a distance, say 8-10 feet (2.5 - 3.5 m) so the size posted might not be suitable. In this case smaller might be better - I'll have a go at it later today.
thanks for looking and your comments/suggestions,
Bob

We have a siamese cat at around the same weight, and then a white cat at
39 lb. The funniest part was when a friend visited us and on the way out he
mentioned how our white dog was a nice looking dog....
Bob... I llike your rework - not that the original wasn't already good You got some great input here ...Black close-up subjects are quite challenging, aren't they?
