i think the same one that fits the 70-200F4L is the same as the 400 & 300?
does anybody know the code, something like the AW2?

You were allmost right.
Its code is: Tripod mount ring A II W.
The W stands for White.
It also fits the 70-200/4.0 L (IS) USM

There is also a Tripod mount ring A II B.
This one is black and fits the EF200/2.8L II USM

Tripod mount ring A II W.
The W stands for White.

There is also a Tripod mount ring A II B
The B stands for black

identical except for color

They fit 400mm F5.6 L, 70-200 F4 L, 70-200 F4 L IS, and 200mm F2.8 L
