its just another tool....nope Apple made the new Mac PRO with intention of not selling it to anyone...no one is going to buy it...
Well...you know how I ment it. I was wondering what everyone thinks about the specs. Since I couldn't find a Nehalem Mac Pro thread here I thought to start one.
I actually started this thread since I would like to purchase a Mac Pro pretty soon. Since I've never owned one I'd need some advice. I'm using a Canon 5D MKII and next to PS CS4 work I started getting into video editing. I want to have a system which will serve well for a number of years. Do you have any tips regarding the configuration of the new Mac Pro (I was thinking about the 2 X 2,26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon version)? What would you choose in regards to video and photo editing?
best,
Ben
I am underwhelmed with the new MacPro which costs so, SO much. The most they claim for a processing speed increase is 20% but that's with 64 bit software (PS is 32 only LR is 64).
Apple has crippled their downscale 4 core unit with only one processor and 8Gb of RAM (not upgradeable for 2 processors and more RAM). My experience is that RAM rules. My old MacPro (bought new) will mount up to 32 Gb of low cost RAM. So rush out and buy a ReFurb MacPro for the best value/performance/$.
