p.1 #1 · Daytona 500 weekend!

Recovering after 10 days in Daytona, Florida for speedweeks 09. While the action was less than desired I still got a few photos I liked. Here are some of my favorites as well as a link to see more from the weekend. Enjoy

you know what I would love, is if you really contributed to the forum and help other members. Looking over your posts all I see is posts with your images and nothing more.

Someone with your skill level I am sure others would love to get advice from you instead of just posting images promoting your website.

JMHO, take it for what it is worth.

By the way, great pictures.

Mark as always awesome set of images. Now with the last one where was the reflection coming from. Can't put a finger on it. Can't wait to see some more images, and I'm in the same boat as Matt, would love to see some critiques and such on everyone elses work, but I am sure your are extremely busy.

Not to busy to promote his blog Only takes 5 minutes to view others work and comment and critique it.

Sorry if I am being to honest here. Just don't like to see a spam post without any other contribution to the site to help other photographers.

Never said his blog was not helpful, but when his only posts promote his blog I consider that spam.

All I am asking for is for someone of his caliber to contribute more to this site than spamming it with his links to his site to help search engine wise.

Check his history in posting here.

(sorry for taking this OT, just bugs me. I will not comment further on this subject as I have made myself clear)

Msauk,
Posting a few images on a forum takes 5 minutes. Helping photographers out answering questions and taking advice takes hours, weeks and months. People who email me or IM me are always answered and given advice. I work around 60 hours a week so I do most of my critiquing and QandA via emails when I am on layovers while traveling. Sorry if my blog offends you. I will make sure to no longer post on fredmiranda so I don't spam anymore. If anyone needs to reach me with questions or stuff like that feel free to email me or IM me.

Mark

Hmm, I would have suspected a more mature post but I guess not.

Takes hours and weeks? I spend like 10 minutes every time I come here and just post some critique when i can. I figure that is the most I could do for this great forum that allows me to post my pictures.

Look your post history is what it is, you only post here when you post your pictures to spam your blog. I like your blog, I like your pictures, I just don't appreciate the way you approach it. If you came here and offered advice a few minutes every couple days I would not see it that way, but you don't and 121 posts have pretty much been you posting links to your blog.

it is what it is, sorry I offended you.

Is this for real? I do not know Mark personally, but I can tell you he is one of the hardest working photogs out there today. As a working professional, Mark is a very busy guy. The fact that he fits FM when he can, I think it is a luxury for the aspiring up and coming photojournalist on this forum and elsewhere. msauk, have you considered putting yourself in Marks position and meet the type of deadlines he has to cover and deliver? The amount of physical labor he puts himself through to cover events for deadlines in an industry where it comes down to who gets that shot to the client first.....Getty, AP, or Mark? I respect the fact that he has a blog where he shares a lot of information about his personal experience of that particular event. That takes time. Where can he do that here in that type of an organized platform? I believe his blog is his personal, detailed account of what he just did, and how he did it. If you have questions, just ask the guy as he is willing to lend himself to help answer your questions. I am a little disappointed in your approach msauk in how you are so quick to judge. If your intent was a joke, then ha ha...funny. If not, then I would reconsider how you post your organized thoughts on FM. And on another note, you will not see a lot of post from me yet. Does that make me a bad member? Well, here is my post and thoughts. Not trying to stir anything, but just spending my 3 cents. Peace to all out there.

Some diverse viewpoints here. Matt, I see it differently. I think the opportunity to just look at Mark's photos is inspiring and educational. Reading his blog takes it further, but I've never had the feeling he posts here to get us to go there. I've viewed it more as our opportunity than him having anything to gain from it. When someone consistently just posts a link here, maybe that better fits (for me) what you're not liking about Mark's posts. At any rate, apparently the interpretation is up for grabs, but there are many ways to learn and to teach, and posting/viewing dazzling and creative images is a part of that process as far as I'm concerned. Just my opinion of course, and I respect yours even though in this rare case, I don't agree with it.

sigh.........

Mark is the furthest thing from a spammer. His posts, along with Muls, Kurt Jones, Ian L. Sitren, Paul Abell, and so many others are what make FM great.... whether they post just photos, or links to their blogs, or whatever. When you start making appearances weekly in top publications and are on the road 8 days a week working, and you can find the time to post all sorts of knowledge to FM, then, feel free to criticize those of us who are less of a photographer than you. Until that day, this was a great post that went wrong. You do not like seeing these posts, hit the hide button and you will not be bothered with them again. Continue down this road and anyone will find them self with a loss of posting rights here at FM.

Look, the guy has time to obviously post his images here, whats another 5 minutes or so to go into other people's posts and critique them? 119 of his 121 posts are simply posts promoting his blog. I see that as spamming when you offer no further dialogue.

I knew my opinion would not be popular, but I was never one to follow the leader. It is my opinion and one I felt like sharing.

I have not been quick to judge, in fact I waited a few months to even say something. Maybe you're the one quick to judge me in that matter.

At the end of the day I am sure my view will not be popular and that is fine, when you come to a forum and only offer posts with links and no dialogue I consider that spam. Sorry. Busy or not, he obviously has time to post in his blog and on this forum.

You act like I am asking the guy for an hour a day, I am simply asking when you come here to post links to your blog, take a few more minutes of your time and help out some other photogs by communicating with them. Show that your here for more than posting links....

Carl,

Look I don't know any of those guys besides Paul but at least Paul comes on here critiquing guys and offers more than links to his site.

There are only 7 days a week, and if you have time to post on this forum I think you could spare a few more helping out others by actually posting more than links to your site.

I never said anyone was "less of a photographer", heck I even said great photos and great blog. I think you need to re-read what I wrote before you criticize me.

"Continue down this road and anyone will find them self with a loss of posting rights here at FM" I have no idea what that means to be honest. Down what road are we talking about? I could care less if the guy posts here, all I asked was that a great photographer take a few minutes after he posts his images to help others. It doesn't take hours, days to do that, maybe 5 minutes if that.

Mark: Please don't take msauk's views as representative of the whole of FM. I would suspect it's quite to the contrary.

msauk: I have found Mark's blog to be helpful for the pictures alone. His commentary on them adds to that in terms of what a professional photographer has to go through to get the shots that a lot of the public doesn't get to see. Finally, I have found Mark to be quite helpful in answering any questions presented to him.
