I thought my latest blog entry maybe of use here.......

For the photographers and videographers out there I thought I would just share a word of warning about a hire company I have had the misfortune to deal with.
Camera Rent based in London ( www.camerarent.co.uk ) have an ingenious way of raising profits, their website quotes single delivery for as many items as you hire and fails to mention delivery costs at all on package item hire. On reviewing my invoices I found I had been charged delivery on every item as well as the items where no costs were associated. On top of this, while I had the equipment their technical support team were unable to get to the bottom of why the camera would not connect digitally to my Mac’. On one of my many phone calls (to a premium number, and again because they failed to call me back) I was advised that if the worst happened and we were unable to find a fix for the camera failing to connect, they would urgently log my tapes and express the footage back to me as a matter of urgency. Two weeks after the rental ended they sent a DVD with the footage (hardly express or urgent) along with another invoice for the work carried out.
All of this on top of Camera rent failing to deliver one piece of equipment and delivering another held together by a tied green elastic band. I can see the focus on customer service message has truly missed its mark here!

Maybe I'm confused here, but delivery costs are clearly listed on package hires when you check out. What do you mean when you say, "fails to mention delivery costs at all on package item hire"?
Also, no offense, but the camera rental place wouldn't really be who you'd contact if your camera is not connecting to your Mac. Perhaps you should have consulted either the company that makes the camera, or the company that makes the Mac (Apple). The rental company just rents gear. I'd be very surprised if they offered technical support.
I used the "24 hour support" number shown on the website (http://www.camerent.co.uk/contact/ ). as it was out of hours when i discovered the problem I couldn't call Canon and Apple didn't know what the problem was either.
