My accountant dropped me this year. I'm thinking about using TurboTax. Any full-timers using this? What are your thoughts?
We use it. It's sufficient to fill out everything necessary, but it does not have all the information you'll need to figure it all when doing it for the first time. Google is your friend big time with that. I've done it myself using TurboTax both in a previous business and this one.
I've always done my own taxes... even in years when I had some complex things going on. That said, I wouldn't want to miss opportunities that a pro can deliver for me now that I'm in business.
Do you really want to be the uncle bob of income tax?
I've used my CPA for nearly 10 years. Went to college with him so I don't think he'll drop me - I keep giving him more business too.
Last year the weather closed the roads so I missed my appt (he couldn't get to the office) and I mis wrote the new one and missed it. He squeezed me in - 8 pm on April 14, his last appointment of the year.
On april 15 I went to the post office. He went to the carribean.
This is our issue this year. I've always done my own taxes, deductions, etc., the works. And my sister is an accountant who is doing their taxes this year (they just started a business as well), so we may use her. Or we may get someone. I use TaxSlayer, but I imagine TurboTax is a bit more "new user" friendly.

I had a double major in college, accounting and art. I have used turbo tax for my photography business the last few years (because of the time it saves). However, as busy as you seem to be an accountant can give you advice throughout the year that turbo tax can not. I am beginning to become so busy that even with my accounting background I am considering employing one of my accounting buddies. Therefore my advice ... find a new accountant that has photographers as clients and he or she will (should) save you money.
hope this helps
