I purchased a Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 from Alexandre on this forum over the holidays, and I spent yesterday working on converting it the rest of the way (it was mostly converted).
First off, the transaction was fabulous. Alexandre was excellent to deal with, answering many very detailed questions. He is about as honest and clear as you can get. The package arrived (all the way from Brazil) so fast that I did not even need a tracking number. Bottom line, he was a great and fair guy, and I am elated that I got the lens.
The only bad part about the whole thing is that this is a gift for some one and it will soon be leaving my house for theirs. Having seen just a glimpse of what it can do, I am sad that it will not stay.
As far as adapters go, I got a focus confirming one from Virtual Village on Ebay. The focus confirmation is amazing on my 20D...no slop. Pretty much nails it every time there is decent light. My only complaint about the adapter is that it is a VERY tight fit to the thread of the camera body. I guess tight is better than loose, but a fraction of a millimeter somewhere would have made it smooth.
Here are a couple quick test shots that I snapped off last night once it was done. Infinity focus is not quite there yet, but I nearly stripped two of the little screws that are used to attach the adapter and shim to the lens, and I have no idea where to get others...any one know?
Thanks,
Jim
P.S. All shots below are wide open at f/1.2. I was able to get my faked out 20D to even focus accurately at f/8 in decent (indoors, incandescent bulbs) light...something that the camera would never "knowingly" try to do with a native Canon lens. Ha ha ha.
