My other half just bought a new laptop with Vista. We’d like to calibrate the monitor, but the X-Rite site says this calibrator has been discontinued. X-Rite offers a workaround on their website for installing on Vista that will allow one to use the last version of Monaco Optix (2.0.3) on the 32 bit version of Vista. This will not work on 64 bit Vista, nor is this workaround supported. Has anyone tried this?
Does anyone know if X-Rite will provide a software upgrade to the old Optix XR that will allow me to use my calibrator on Vista?
The i1Display2 is a complete Hardware and software replacement for the Monaco Optix XR. The Hardware devices are not interchangeable. The Monaco Optix software was discontinued before Vista and will no longer get updated.
Would be nice if they upgraded the drivers for the old Optix XR for Vista. Might be enough to make me look at another brand, such as the Spyder when I am forced to get Vista, hopefully, a very long ways away.

I too have upgraded to Vista 64 (I like it) and I have the Optix XR, so I'm in the same boat with you. I have pretty much decided on the Spyder system but now I'm trying to decide between the pro and elite. The elite has more bells and whistles and I'm not sure that I need them. Please post back any more revalations you come accross and I'll do the same. Ernie
Ok. Will do. At this point, her laptop is the only computer with Vista, tho her son has Vista. They may do some research, and split the cost. For me, all my computers are still running XP.

I downloaded that and looked at the pdf documentation that came with it, and have to wonder what the DTP94 is. Nowhere do I see the Optix XR mentioned. Not sure what to do with it.

The other option is to get the ColorEyes software which supports both the OptixXR and 64bit Vista.
I used the demo program with my Optix and it worked well. I'm still running 32bit, so the workaround that XRITE provided worked fine for me.
I’ll take a look into that.

After looking at photos I processed on my calibrated LaCie on this laptop with a super glossy monitor, I am fairly sure that calibrating this monitor would be futile. If one moves their head a half an inch, the photo on the monitor changes completely. I found a default sRGB profile within Vista, and implemented that one, and the colors are fine for viewing, If you have your head in the right position.
For now, I think we are going to pass on trying to calibrate the laptop monitor. It will be a very long time before I start moving my machines over to Vista from XP, so I will stick with my Monoco Optix XR. It does the job very well.

I just went through this, it will not work with Vista 64bit. I ended up with a Eye 1 Display2 and all is well.
Only strange thing is that the profile is loaded at bootup, but then Vista goes back to its default, you can actually see it happen while its booting up. I simply run the startup program from Eye 1 again and all is fine.
DTP94 is the generic name for the Optix Pro "puck". The driver will recognize and install the puck. The optix Pro software will then recognize the DTP94 as the Optix Pro calibration device.
Place the 64-bit driver on your desktop, plug the Optix calibrator into an USB port and then point the Vista driver intall to the DTP94 driver.
I have a Vista 64 laptop and I got the Monaco Optix Pro XR calibration to work. I can't remember the details, but I downloaded some updates from the vendor.
I had no idea this thread had come back to life. Since I started this thread, I have bought a new LaCie 324 LCD monitor that came with the Blue Eye software that is totally compatible with my DTP-94, and the DTP-94 is even one of the recommended pucks for the Blue Eye software. I have decided not to calibrate the laptop with Vista because it is just a cheap TN monitor with lousy viewing angles, but if I change my mind, the Blue Eye software is Vista compatible, and will work just fine. I no longer have the issue of wanting to use my old Monaco Optix software with Vista. Obviously, I’m not the only one with an interest in using the Monaco Optix software with Vista, so it looks like this thread is helping others.

I am using Optix XR with Vista 64. Calibration and profiling are excellent on my Lacie CRT monitor. I could not calibrate my Dell 2209WA with it, but I could profile it (once the black and white points were set, color profiling was easy). I have the link at home for the work around. Let me know if you need it.
Make sure you delete any gamma loaders supplied by Adobe or supplied by your video card from the start-up menu.
It appears that Vista overrides the calibrated profile soon after start-up. I used this program to delay the loading of my Optix XR profile for 15 seconds after start-up. It solved the problem. You just drill down through your program files until you get to the gamma loader.
