I found this site and it has reviews of both the pro and elite Spyders. Lots of good info on all sorts of stuff too.

Thanks. The Spyder 3 Pro looks like a good replacement, and a decent price at B&H.

Download the Vista 32 and 64-bit drivers from here http://www.xrite.com/product_overview.aspx?action=support&id=730 . Once the proper driver was installed, I installed the Optix XR software with no problem and everything works fine.
I downloaded that and looked at the pdf documentation that came with it, and have to wonder what the DTP94 is. Nowhere do I see the Optix XR mentioned. Not sure what to do with it.

The other option is to get the ColorEyes software which supports both the OptixXR and 64bit Vista.
I used the demo program with my Optix and it worked well. I'm still running 32bit, so the workaround that XRITE provided worked fine for me.
I’ll take a look into that.

After looking at photos I processed on my calibrated LaCie on this laptop with a super glossy monitor, I am fairly sure that calibrating this monitor would be futile. If one moves their head a half an inch, the photo on the monitor changes completely. I found a default sRGB profile within Vista, and implemented that one, and the colors are fine for viewing, If you have your head in the right position.
For now, I think we are going to pass on trying to calibrate the laptop monitor. It will be a very long time before I start moving my machines over to Vista from XP, so I will stick with my Monoco Optix XR. It does the job very well.
