Hi,

I bought a Zuiko 50/1.4 (serial 1164XXX) for about U$27 incl. shipping some time ago.
It was bought as-is, but for a > 1,100,000 50/1.4 Zuiko, here I go!

Mechanically, it is perfect. Cosmetically too. Problem is the glass, where it shows some specs of dust and a good deal of fungus...
Do anyone know where I can find a white page that teaches me how to disasemble it? And what about those bleach moistures that kills everything?

I've seen assembly/tech manuals for Oly lenses on ebay. Pretty sure you'll need some specific tools to do it though.

asbalyan, I ended up finfing these pages as well... I think that, if I don't find a cheap place to fix this Zuiko, I will do it myself, like Jman did on his Super Tak (I guess).

Fungus can etch the optical coatings and eat the cement in between optical elements. It's probably worth the salvage attempt, but you might want to keep your eyes open for another "as is" version of this lens to find some replacement optics.

Yes, I already have 2 of them. both with serial # > 1,100,000.
THe other one is a bit damaged maybe due to a fall. bent filter ring, some scratches on ront element, etc.

I will try to mix both and, if I don't suceed... well, I will use the other 50's I have

Just try cleaning the fungus with normal methods (microfiber cloth) first, before trying various liquids. Most of the time it can be removed dry w/o other efforts.

you will likely need a good spanner wrench to open this one up, btw.

Just before the helicoids come apart, make a mark on the front and rear helicoid rings to indicate where they go back together. Once you get the thing apart and cleaned up, you'll discover that the helicoid rings could start back together in a several locations, but only one will get you the proper alignment of the inner mechanisms -

And try using cold cream (I used Pond's Cold Cream.. not a very popular in US.... ).. that do wonders with fungus...
