p.1 #1 · Can someone tell me what he uses here??

In this video clip off the website of Jerry Ghionis..
Youhave to watch most of it until about center when he's photographing a bride alone..
If somoene can get to the scene where he photographs the bride in what looks like the bathroom with the bright light and focuses off the mirror to take the shot..

http://www.jerryghionisphotography.com playthe promo video clip to get the scene - shot I'm talking about...

Is he using a strobe, is he using he ambient light ONLY, is that even a sky light?? Or does he have a light source bouncing light off the celling..the sample shot it shows right after the shutter sound off is a DAY and NIGHT difference to what we see on the film - obviously that shot they show is PS worked and all - ...but he shows the bride and the bride loves it...in essence I think his un-photoshoped shot in-camera is quite close to what they show us after whch is definitely PS workd..

But can someone shed some light (no punn intended) on this technique..

That site locked my computer up big time. It takes a lot to do so.

Looks like a gripped 5D, no lights - I'm guessing he's spot metering off her face with the direct light.

Ya..I saw that too...
It does look like he's spot metering off her face...
But that light source...it does look like just a sky light..but then again not:
Here's why:
when he's in the room with her and he's kind of positioning her,, you see his back cast a big shadow on the wall right behind him....and that shadow is definitelty not being cast by any window light above him..you cam see the shadow is being cst by a light source very close to him..and sort of coming up from the floor..
I think its a light source ( strong lamp) and it's coming from the bottom up and bouncing off the low ceiling..

In any case, his work is really remarkable...

Nektario K is pretty much right I think, but I do think it is a window light. The set suggests there are a lot of eaves, so I have to belive there might be a 2x3 window at knee height, maybe a bit higher. For all we know, there is a white house, three feet from the house he's shooting in that is reflectong the light through a small window. Great observation.

It's definately just a high shutter speed and a sky light. In the video the skylight is blown out, while the video camera properly exposes for the ambient in the washroom from bulbs and the like. Has the video camera been exposed for the level of light coming from the skylight; it would look much like the photo did. Nothing too special, just spectacular lighting and talent. There's a reason this guy has so many awards.

Thanks for elaborating on that...Makes so much sense...
Man, photography is just an limitless entity...
Never thought of doing this type of exposure...
but here's my first take at trying to catch itr..
First shot unedited:
second with my workflow on it..

But do you see the shadow he casts on the wall behind him when he's in the room with her...that tight shdaow isn't caused by the sky light..the light causing it, coming from elsewhere...maybe there;s a light on the floor illuminating her back wall...
