These are from quite a few months ago.
Met this dude while walking around Olympic Plaza in Calgary. He was having troubles getting his shopping cart down a set of stairs, and asked for a hand. Went over and helped him get it down.. He said his thanks and introduced himself as Kevin of Kevins happy window washing, and asked if I wanted to take a photo of him.
This second one is alot easier on the B+W conversion...I thought it was mor fitting for this image.
Love the texture and feel of the first shot... I would want some more of this guy is I were you. He is a great subject. Shell out some bucks and follow him around for a while.

I really like #1 a lot. I do think it shows that you had some sort of connection with the guy in the photo. I tend to shy away from shooting homeless etc. because I feel like I'm using them if I do (shooting ordinary folks is fair game as far as I'm concerned), but the way you went about it was different.
And it makes me regret something actually... While I was on a 10-day trip in NYC to take photos a couple months ago, I had several people specifically ask me, albeit half-jokingly, to take their photos. Stupidly, I always just laughed and kept doing my thing. Looking back, those would have been excellent opportunities to get some really close-up shots with that connected feeling.
