I have been putting off buying studio lights for awhile, and have used the Alien Bees units in the past.

However, I got an e-mail from photoflex the other day with a great deal.

2 Starflash 150s
1 Small LiteDome
1 Medium LiteDome
2 soft box connectors
2 7.6 foot light stands
1 transpac case

Plus a free third Starflash 150

All of that for $850.

Now, for $675 I can get three B400 units with no soft boxes, stands, or adapters but Alien Bees gives 5% discount for every light on accessories so, 15% off accessories.

I already have two of my own light stands, a few umbrellas (white/black, silver/black, and white shoot thru), and pocket wizards.

Any input? I have never used the Photoflex units.

Right now I shoot mostly weddings so I would be using these for some on site portraits. I mainly use speedlites on stands for most of that stuff, but they are nice to have. I also want to start doing more portrait work and product shots, as well as general screwing around.

I'd stick with ABs, personally. I've never use Photoflex's strobes but they don't seem to impressive. The AB400's are great for getting down at really low power levels while also having a very fast flash duration.

150w/s really isn't much light either. While I certainly end up down in that range frequently, I also find that I need more than that frequently.
