Hello, I have recently been getting more involved with using alternate lenses. I have gathered a few very nice ones from flea markets, etc.--but almost all of them telephoto. I would love to pick up some alternate brand wide angles to use on Canon EOS. Right now the only I have is the Contax/Zeiss 28mm. I found a 20mm Russian Mir 3.5 and a Takumar fisheye fairly cheap. I was wondering if anyone has used them or has an opinion of them--mostly I am interested in knowing how sharp they are, and if they are sharper than the Canon 20mm (which I don't think is that good) or the Canon fisheye. Thank you in advance for any opinions or advice.
The Tak 17mm fish is a pretty good performer & very tiny but somewhat prone to lens flare, the Zenitar 16mm f2.8 is a much better performer both in terms of image quality and resistance to lens flare from f4 onwards, makes a great ultrawide on 1.6x bodies.
