p.1 #1 · Sunlit Pheasant

Driving home from shooting the Blue Tits yesterday I spotted this Pheasant in a field with the sun lighting up the winter countryside. So I pulled over the car onto the side of the road and took the first image with the end of the lens resting on the open car window. This may have stopped any end lens movement.
I took the rest with the lens resting on a pod (bean bag) on the roof of the car. There were lots of hunters out nearby so I hope he made it through the day as its open season on the males these days.
And I hope this gets me some redemption from yesterdays shots
Thanks for looking. C&C welcome and thanks again for all the tips from yesterdays post.
Martin

4 Better get something to eat
5 One of the hunters down by the lake. Only birds nearby are some gulls. Guess they don't like gull meat.

Fine shots of a beautiful bird. Now, when all is said and done, wild peasants taste much better than even free range poultry.

I was lucky to spot him in the open as I drove along. Thats what makes me wonder if he made it through the day. If he did he probably gets another week, at least till next weekend.
Thanks for the comment Ken.

Martin I will never forget the first time a pheasant popped up right under my feet in the field, scared the heck out of me and I can still here it cackling to this day. They are beautiful birds that prefer to run and hide than fly from threat. You got some great colorful shots, that was a nice treat. Pheasant shots all look good, the hunters sitting has something wrong with the image though.

Thanks Karl. It was nice to get them after the other ones had not turned out so well.
I thought that you would have guessed that I blurred the hunters image on purpose to protect their identiy. Don't want the hunters becoming the hunted

Hi Tim,
This one was fairly quiet, but he was also just beside the edge of the woods and in great camoflage so I suspect if he saw any movement he would have been gone like a flash. Thanks for the comments.

What a Beautiful Creature !! ... Amazing !!!

People who Destroys Beauty IMO are Mindless ... I tried a lot but I could not find any fun in this act ... It's Good that here in India Hunting of Any Kind is officially banned ... so if these men with guns were here they would have been considered poachers !

I am sorry if I am sounding too loud but I feel really strongly about it ...

Hi Subharghya,
I feel your passion on this subject and I suspect that there willl always be opposing points of view. But when you see the beauty of the animals through the lens its very difficult to accept that someone can come along and kill it afterwards.

Poor pheasant - I hope it makes it. I share Subharghya's comments. Very nice set, Martin. Beautiful colors in that pheasant and you captured some nice poses.
