I use body covers and snoot boots to cover my gear when it's otherwise more-or-less loose in my backpack - it works great. I take the covers off when I bring the gear out to use. It looks like a great way to protect your body without having to carry it in a bag. I found another pretty cool gadget, it's the Kirk Omnipod. It's a small pad, maybe 4-5" by about 8" with a arca-swiss type clamp on it. I meant that you can put the cover on the body while the straps are still attached, and then store it away.
