p.1 #1 · Mac's color profiling

Sooo... today I noticed that if you install Adobe Creative Suite 4 onto a Mac, it automatically changes the color display setting to Adobe RGB. I noticed because when I tried to view my website in glorious full screen mode on a 24inch LED display from Mac, it looked really bad. Quick switch in the display settings fixed it, but the incident got me thinking.

Why does this happen automatically in the first place? Is it better to save images for web in sRGB or Adobe RGB? I saved images before in Adobe RGB, but the colors were crazy off in windows vista... so I stayed away from it. I noticed that some websites graphics are not really changed much between the two modes. Is there a specific color profile that should be used for websites?

Can't answer for the Creative suite issue, as far as web viewing always save it in sRGB.
