p.1 #1 · Milwaukee - 5D Mark II

Here's a couple more with the 5D Mark II. I appreciate all the comments and requests for more examples.

This is downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin:

Markarce - thanks. Both were taken at sunrise this morning. #1 is a little funky on the processing but the detail is something.

Looks good. What lens did you use?

The second photo is especially lovely. Beautiful colors, crystal-clear and tack-sharp.

Hi Bob,
I like the clarity and light in these, especially #2.
Well done.

#2 is definitely a class act. On #1, whatever that white building is in the front ruins it for me. I don't know why. It's like it shouldn't be there.

First, thank you all for your comments. It is appreciated.

aF: #2 is in fact a single raw file, no layering, no HDR

Bev: The building in the front of #1 is a Milwaukee landmark . . . the Calatrava, part of the Milwaukee Art Museum. It's probably the most photographed structure in the city.

Thanks again,

Thanks for sharing that image. I viewed the hi-res version and it looked good. There is a very small amount of noise at 100%, but it is pretty minimal and would likely not really show up in a print. Obviously we don't have a 5D shot in the exact some conditions to compare to, but I think we are going to get more detail out of the 5DII at larger print sizes. I am looking forward to seeing some side by side 5D and 5DII comparisons.

Bob, I figured it was probably a landmark because it is such an unusual building. Is it supposed to look like a sailboat? That's what it reminds me of. The larger image at Flickr does portray it better. Thanks for the link.

I'm sure there will be lots of comparison. Right now, I'm simply getting used to the camera and honestly, I'm too excited to think about doing some type of detailed study. I can see huge improvements visually over my 5D Mark I just on my screen. To me, that and a print are all the convincing I need.

Just hit the dust cleaning button and it's gone . . . I'm sure there will be more. It wasn't a big deal on my mark I, I doubt it will be on this.

Thanks.
