After being a lurker for a long long time, I finally have gathered enough courage to post a capture here. Another reason for never posting here was that I did not have a long lens so far. It was only 2 weeks back that I bought a 100-400 L and took it for a spin over the weekend to the local bird sanctuary called Ras Al Khor (Dubai).
I am still trying to get used to a long lens so if you feel that you can give me an advice on improving the technique, I would really appreciate it. I know there are very talented people on the forums here and I really hope I get to learn something from them.
Regards,
Kartik
Edit: Added a couple of pictures to my original post.
Not a bad shot, but you really need to have the sun behind you when you are facing your subject. If it's not possible to get on the correct side when you are there, then you need to plan to be there when the sun will be behind you. Early morning or late evening give the best angle for the sun and it's usually a warmer light too.

Thanks Ron, I agree with you. Problem is the sanctuary is open form 9 am till 4 pm only. One can not get inside it, and have to be restricted to two of the hides they have at the border of the sanctuary. That kind of makes shooting options very limited. But I will check what I can do from there next time.
