p.1 #1 · Portraits - Jordan

Jordan is a good friend and quite a good photographer as well. We went out in search of a good location for portraits, and found this little train bridge. So we set up and snapped a few shots. I'd love some CC.

I really like the second one and the fourth one. Everything about them seems very cohesive and textured.

The first one is okay, but both sides of his face are overexposed which is a very strange look for anyone. While the leading lines in the third one are effective, the sky seems a little too grey. I think this could have worked if it was cloudy, or if it was clear blue skies, but it looks like there were very thin clouds everywhere.

All the images are fine, but the first one and third one is not very catchy to the eyes. I think it is because very dull sky colors. His face is over exposed from the sides, very strange, i think it is because of the sun on right side and the sun reflections from the train from the left side. Available EXIF info help me better critic the images.

Thanks for the replies. Usually we have amazing skies in Calgary, but your right, it was just a flat thin layer of cloud.

The sun was camera right, flash camera left. The blown out side of his face was due to me struggling to get the flashes to fire with cactus triggers and fast changing sunlight. I have solved this problem for future shoots by ordering some CyberSyncs.

Shots 2 and 4 were shot with two umbrellas on either side with a flash on-camera triggering them optically.

I agree about the first and third images. The last one I think is the best. It's like #2 but cropped much better. Nice colors on all of them though.
