After further investigation on this bird due to some color difference on the band which causes two entirely different States to stake their claim. I am going to go with Andrew J s call on a purple band and this will make it a Maryland or Virginia born bird. It was banded by the Biologist at William & Mary Univ. as neither of the States mentioned due any banding any longer. Stopped about 1988.
Therefore, after going back and forth with the State of Maine and yesterday with Pete Nye and the Biologist at W&M- U. we are making the call as a purple band and it belonging to the State of Maryland or Virginia and not Maine. Also the call on the band # is now changed to S/3 as the W&M Biologist gave the info below.
This is indeed one of our Maryland birds. The color band is S3 (USFWS
0679-01212). We banded it at APG, Harford Co, MD in March 2008 as a
third-year plumage bird. .
Here is the link to the first call on Wills bird, which he got at the Conowingo Dam on Nov. 21, 2008. Why do I have this feeling I am not done with this bird yet And Andrew we are working on your New Jersey bird as I write and Will I hope you see this post as I can’t find your address but I am still looking.
