As I'm sure you now realise, the first pic's framing is just a wee bit too close for the 35mm, unless you want to over-emphasise the subject's features deliberately - though not many will thank you for doing so.
Technically good, lottsa character and spontaneity in those images, and last but not least on the gear forum.....the lens looks good. BTW, I always enjoy seeing stuff with minimal PP evident.
I actually like the close up distortion of the 35, at least sometimes it adds to the image / portrait.
Under certain lighting conditions my 5D/35/1.4 combo can't AF well at 2-4m distance though, but judging by my other lenses that's more a 5D AF and lighting issue, than 35/1.4 problem.

That really is only the faintest of rumours, and if the 24 is anything to go by any new lens would come at a premium anyway. Go for it - Canon may leave this lens alone for years or might, as per the 85L, update it in a way that really makes no major difference to most users.
