p.1 #1 · 40D - Accessories???

I'm not talking tripods or bags here but more like smaller stuff.

1) What accessories do you use most?

2) What would you consider the best small accessories for the 30D/40D?

3) Which do you think offer the best value for money?

All replies welcome

1) BG-E2n, without a doubt, never take it off.

2) RS-60E3 (cable release) is quite useful.

Yep, I'd have to agree, the BG-E2 is the da bomb along with the E-1 hand strap.

I'm thinking about the E-1. I need a replacement for my chinese nacked RS-80N3 and I already have the BG-E2N

I love mine naked, no strap...nada. Slap the 400 on it and I'm a BIF nailin' 'monkey!

The cable release for sure; circular polarizing filters; hoods for lenses that didn't come with them; microfiber cloths; a charger that can be used from a car cigarette lighter socket; and when I dive into flash after my intended retirement next year, the off-camera shoe cord.

So far, my #1 accessory is the BG-E2N grip. Never leave home without it......

I have my BG-E2N on whatever camera has my 70-200 2.8 on it as without the grip the combination doesn't balance at all - I use 30/40Ds

An extra 511 is one of the most important accessories to own. I also find my iPod and a flask of Jack Daniels essential when waiting for good light.

Nice one Chris, just making sure someone hadn't gone and bought the good old xxxD release rather than the sturdier one for us lot.

I have a BG-E2N, (Genuine Canon Model). It flexes and twists when tripod mounted, causing the camera to droop downward after you lock the tripod. It is made of plastic, and even with a 17-55 f/2.8 lens, it droops. Finally, I just removed it for tripod use(No drooping with it off, even with a big telephoto lens). It is a hassle to remove and re-install, so a built-in grip like the 1D Mark II or III has is much better.
