Boston
One of the best parts of the Big Dig project.

C and C appreciated, esp thoughts about the processing.
Thx

Scott

Scott,

I like the processing very much - particularly the clouds; the blue tone sets a great mood.

If only someone would come up with a 'sign filter'

regards,

Bob

Very strong image. I'd be interested to see your starting image.
For me, at least, the image has a strong emotional charge similar to a well written and graphic scifi novel (Asimov comes to mind first).

the directional nature of the lines leading upward while accentuated by the signage saying "northward" creates a sense of intrigue. the diagonals not only serve to support the growth upward but adds additional tension by fanning out. This fan leads, my eye, toward the lighter area of the sky but conversely strengthens the focus of the main spire toward the light.

The light poles in the center of the image makes my eye halt at intervals on this upward journey, maybe to consider where i am going. echoing the right-angle turn on the sign suggesting that a familiar (not-so) Tobin Br is a mere 1/2 mile. to the left.

nice!

Two more variations.
Which do you all prefer?

#1, 2 is good but not as striking. My monitor shows 2 a little too reddish for my eye. course i may just be stuck on "first seen"

Thanks, Fozzel.
Appreciate your detailed comments.
Here is a jpeg made from the unprocessed RAW image I began with.
Feel free to play (for you or anyone else)

I like first variation best. Nice composition.

In the first the sign being bluish does not work for me.

Crop on top ones is better - it focusses on the structure and makes suitable relative to being busy.

2 one best and good. Scott

bored at work, so here's a quick full-color version, just for variety's sake (hope you don't mind):

Not at all!
Let's see what people think.
BTW, do you have a preference among the BW and toned images?

Hi, Scott.... great shot, nice composition. If it wasn't for annoying green signs I would vote for the last full colored version. but your b/w version does draw all my attention to the beautiful structure - great choice. I certainly couldn't improve on that!

It reminded me a bit of a rocket launch and so you tickled my imagination

... and I couldn't resist and went wild with it - fire and all - thanks for letting me play, too... but if you do mind I will quickly remove it

Best, Bee

Bee,
No apologies.
Love to see how people interpret and play with these images.
Definitely got the rocket launch effect!

Be interesting to pair one of these with the right shot of a church/cathedral type structure, either modern or old.

My favorite bridge. A very nice shot (and PP). I only wish it were more symmetrical. I think if you could clone out the road signs (use the other side of the bridge and mirror it?) and get rid of the single lamp post in the foreground and center the main bridge elements it would be excellent.
