I would like to see the fathers hand in a different position. It sort of looks like he is really grabbing him. The lighting is good although if you have a reflector or another light source I would fill in the father's face a bit more.
Nicholas,
Thank you for the feedback & tips. Re. the hand- it kind of bothers me that I cut some of it off, but I kind of liked the intensity of his stare with the strong grip. The Father is from South America and spoke very little english. Even without words, he struck me as a fairly intense/passionate individual and I tried to capture this with the image. Lighting was basically combination of a very large softbox and available window light. I would have liked to have brought over some of my other lights for fill, background, and overhead, but this was a last second shot approaching the end of the little one's tolerance for getting his picture taken. I may be just trying to talk myself into this, but I think that the lighting as is brings a little more intensity. Any other thoughts?
Thanks again,
Walt
Thanks Steady. I certainly agree that it would have been a different image all together. In my very limited time on the forum, I have very much enjoyed learning from your comments. In fact, this is essentially why I joined and just began posting images on FM. Thank you for your efforts to make this site more informative.
