p.1 #1 · NYC: Red Hook, Brooklyn

Here's a shot I took a couple of months ago... this was done in the evening around 7:30pm. In dead center if you look carefully, is the Statue of Liberty right on the horizon. Your CC is much appreciated.

10mm, iso100, f/22, 20s

Earlier that evening....

200mm, iso200, f/11, 1/125s

Leung, first one does not say new york city to me. does not make it a bad image though. I do feel however that the image is neither minimalistic, nor detailed, but somewhere in between. I find the degree of movement in the cloud too much for me. You can get the nice smooth water at anything in order of 4 seconds in my experience. I would have considered shooting at f11-16, 4 sec, iso 100-200.
Second one I love the sky, and the general color as well as the back lit statue. I do think it will be nicer with an off center composition.

Both nice images. The clouds that evening were great. The water in the first image isn't doing anything special for me, and there's no real focal point in the image. A tighter crop could help with the overall interest in the image. The second has some nice tones, I think the water at the bottom is a little distracting. A tighter, vertical crop could also help this image to be more focused. The dead space on the sides aren't doing much imo. Great work, keep it up.

Thanks for those observations kevindar... It's good to hear what people like and dislike..... I understand what you mean and also have tons of images of smooth water within 4-6 seconds that look just fine... however, in shot #1, I was going for the cloud motion rather than water smoothing. I do understand that many folks don't like too much cloud motion, but I really am into it.

Thanks again!
