I find the degree of movement in the cloud too much for me. You can get the nice smooth water at anything in order of 4 seconds in my experience. I would have considered shooting at f11-16, 4 sec, iso 100-200.
Second one I love the sky, and the general color as well as the back lit statue. I do think it will be nicer with an off center composition.
Thanks for those observations kevindar... It's good to hear what people like and dislike..... I understand what you mean and also have tons of images of smooth water within 4-6 seconds that look just fine... however, in shot #1, I was going for the cloud motion rather than water smoothing. I do understand that many folks don't like too much cloud motion, but I really am into it.
