edstar Offline Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #1 · help need with my eos 30 Hi folks, Just noticed something strange with my eos 30. with the back closed, the camera works fine (phew) , but with the back open, the shutter opens and closes very quickly no matter what i set it to. I have tried it with new batteries and with different lenses, well one other and still the same. I know its much of an issue but I am sure the shutter should stay open for the correct length of time no matter if the back is open or closed. hummm maybe I am wrong but I am certainly confused! loosecanon Offline Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #2 · help need with my eos 30 I don't have my manual handy, but if you read it, you will see that one of the custom functions (I can't remember which one, I believe the one that sets the default shutter speed to 1/125 when using flash) sets the shutter speed at 1/4000 whenever the back is open. This is completely normal, and shouldn't be an issue as you shouldn't be shooting with the camera back open!! :-) Feb 05, 2004 at 06:12 PM

edstar Offline Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #3 · help need with my eos 30 thank loosecanon you have put my mind to rest. now to find the manual found it cf 9 changes the flash sync to 1/125. but it seems to cf 2 that was the root of my prob. cf 2 sets the leader postion. weird eh! cant figure out why and there seems to be no mention of it in the manual anyway alls well that ends well eh! I just bought my 7e so I was looking at the manual last night and read something about a CF setting the shutter speed to 1/4000 with the back open. I'll look at it again tonight! Maybe the theory is that if you rewind with the leader out, and then accidentally press the shutter button with the back open while trying to remove the film canister, there is less chance of the leader getting stuck in, and damaging, the shutter with a really fast shutter speed.
