p.1 #1 · edit my picture!

heres my image i just edited. im pretty happy with it but i feel the sky could use a little work. i wish i was good enough to insert a dramatic skyscape.

anyone want to have some fun and take a crack at it? i'd like to learn a trick or two about it.

feel free to modify it, thanks

Open that same raw file in acr and drop the exposure a bunch. You may be able to get a decent sky out of it still unless it's totally blown. Use the new comp as a layer on top of this processed one and try blending it in with a layer mask.

Crop it. There are too many distracting elements in the area above the car.

I think the shot would work better horizontal rather than vertical.

If you're leaving the open area for text as in an ad or magazine article, remove the power line and get rid of the house. Even though it's blurred it's still distracting.

Bifurcator, Awesome work. Sorry, but not sure how to help with the blown skies.

+1

If you don't have any sky data, either crop it or replace it.

Sure!

  1. Right clicked your image in the browser --> Copy Image.
  2. Searched HDD "Cloud" + ".jpg", and dragged the 1st 5 coolish ones to the desktop.
  3. Alt+Tab --> PS, Apple+N, Paste (car) image as new layer.
  4. Roughly Poly-lasso selected the sky, RMB -> Feather 1.5 -> Delete key.
  5. Dragged all five images into PS as BG Layers.
  6. Shift selected all BG layers -> Free Transform -> Rotate (then individually to scale).
  7. Apply Wind to each layer -> Free Transform -> Rotate back into place (about).
  8. Select FG layer (car) -> Color Balance + optional lame effect + save as JPG (for each layer)
  9. For the nuke one I also took a quick rough swipe across the top of the car with the blur tool.
And then did an exposure correction + add noise 3%.
  10. Dropped off the images on my mounted FTP server.
Done.

You're welcome.

Step 8.

PhotoShop --> Image --> Adjustments --> Color Balance.

Graduated filter + fog. I would remove the power lines ... if this wasn't just a rough draft.
