A quick- and heartfelt - thank you to the members of this forum for there help over the last two-three months...whether through threads, PM's, and/or e-mails, the advice and insights I received here as I "sat on the fence" for a while before purchasing a 1D Mark III was, in many instances, invaluable. I purchased a brand new 1D Mark III from an FM'er on the B&S forum two weeks ago (thanks again, Ray!) and I could not be happier. No AF issues to date, wonderful IQ (to be honest...blown away by the difference in many aspects), terrific build (I didn't realize what a difference there would be!) - there's a bit of a learning curve, but well worth the investment. The only down side I can see? The cost of upgrades in the future , because I can't imagine going back. Thanks again for putting up with all the questions and inquiries.
A happy 1D MarkIII user! This will counteract the Canon bashing tone..... Most of the time, only unhappy users post their experience here; funny how that works.
This still is (IMHO) BY FAR the best photo site on the web.
I have learned so much here in the past five years about digital photography and am also grateful to all those who have helped me. I hope I've passed on a little of my experience too. Thanks to all and expecially Fred.
AGeoJo...I did a LOT of research before purchasing...and a LOT of correspondence/communication with 1D Mark III owners before biting the bullet. I know that a lot of early purchasers had problems - some that still don't seem to be resolved - but the more I read, the more I spoke to owners, the more convinced I became that the later SN's seemed to have been corrected, or at least were now being built to the standards of earlier 1 Series models. I was genuinely worried prior to purchase, and I can't predict what the months ahead will bring, but I am VERY happy with the purchase...the difference between this camera and my 40D is like night and day (and I was happy with my 40D, although it will now become my backup camera).
dhphoto, I agree with you...it's rare to find a forum that is as helpful and as focused as the ones here tend to be...I hope it stays that way and doesn't fall prey to the incessent bickering and flaming I've seen happen elsewhere.
