p.1 #1 · 1Ds3 repair

Last week I sent my 1Ds3 and 24-105 into Irvine for a cleaning and lens calibration since it was still under warranty. I got them back today and the repair on the camera says--

"We have examined the product according to your request and it was found that the AF assembly was inoperative causing soft focus. Electrical adjustments were carried out on the AF assembly. Other electrical adjustments and inspection and cleaning were carried out."

The funny thing is, i never really noticed any AF problems over the last few months.Although I have been using MF lenses primarily. Also when I sent it in I had about 2000 actuations on the shutter but now the counter says 9890! Has anyone sent their DS3 in lately and had a similiar report and would a different CF card reset my counter or did they take it to a big shoot over the weekend?

The lens report said the mechanical chassis was incorrect causing rear focus.

Never noticed a problem with the lens either,, guess ignorance is bliss

The count will reset when a different card is inserted. At least it shows they put in a card and took a few shots.

Nope, none of the 1D 3 Series of bodies report actuation count anymore.

Maybe they mixed up cameras?

While we're on the topic, is there a way to set the file counting to begin at an arbitrary number? Maybe reset the counter, then insert a card with a file on it named to that number you want to start counting from?

File numbering -> Manual Reset

Then insert a memory card into the camera with a single image on it with the image # that you want the camera to assume (+1).

Don't forget to re-do all your MA adjustments, chances are they got changed while in service (not the absolute numbers that you dialed in, but rather the reference point if they ran a calibration).
