I met up with Canon Rep on Saturday and what he told me was quite interesting. I'm in LA, so this relates to the LA area as far as studio requests and such.
FWIW, I'll pass it on here, though I always take these things with a grain of salt.
The 1Ds is back ordered and will be for awhile.
The 5DII will be out maybe next month maybe later. He, via Canon, thinks it'll be a while before the production catches up with the orders. June is when he predicts you'll find them sitting on shelves, until then they'll be flying out the door.
Michael Bay requested two for use on The Transformers sequel right away and was told they weren't available. Same thing with James Cameron, sorry, not available. Sony ordered 150 5DII's, but will have to wait a while. As of now, they just aren't available.

And he expected them to be available last week? Yeah, right. No-one was going to be getting one last week. The further we get into October the more likely some units will become available though. We'll have to wait and see.
Ever seen the making of the Matrix video? Imagine being the sales rep when you get the order for 150 5DmkII's and 150 135L lenses. Yeah, that's a good day.
